IPW Reminder

Part 1: Project Report (Groupwork)

Each group will research on your assigned topic to get to know Singapore better. Thereafter, each group will write your Project Report (500 words) and submit to your English teacher for grading. (to be included in CA2)

Base your report on your observations, readings, research or/and interviews with others.

Your group must cover the following in your report:

a) Give information on the topic you have been assigned.

b) Explain why it is important to be aware of Singapore’s history.

c) Explain why we should appreciate our national heritage and not be complacent and take things for granted.

d) Suggest how you can share with / educate the people around you about Singapore’s history – in the school, community, among your friends and later in your life.

e) State the skills you have learnt in doing this project and its importance in your education.

Part 2: Oral Presentation with Powerpoint Slides (Individual Work)

After you have done your research for part 1, you are to present on the topic “Singapore and Me”, by recounting an anecdote (using personal recount genre when you write your script).

In your presentation, you should express your appreciation for Singapore and her national heritage. You may recount how some interesting event/ occasion/ incident made you realize that you should appreciate our national heritage and not take things for granted.

Each student will be assessed individually (4-5minutes).

(For English Oral Examination in Term 4 Week 1, as part of SA2.)

The oral presentation must be supported by exactly 5 powerpoint slides, which each student must prepare individually beforehand. These slides should consist of relevant pictures with captions. They should not be too wordy.

Use the following as a guide for your slides:

Slide 1 Introduction / topic / outline of presentation
Slide 2 - 4 Main points - illustrated with pictures and captions
Slide 5 Conclusion / Summary / Learning points
